Hi! I’m Caleb Richardson, the Founder of Helperly. I’m a husband, father, son, and grandson.
A little about me and why our mission means so much to me. I am from a massive family. My mom is one of 10 and my dad is one of 9. This means that both sets of my grandparents have over 130 kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. I’m an observant person, and I’ve watched how they interact with each of their descendants and have a meaningful, personal connection with each of them, as if they were the only person in their life. My family is full of people from all walks of life. All different races, genders, political affiliation, and religious beliefs; yet my grandparents have a true relationship with each of them regardless. It’s something that’s so beautiful to me.
Throughout 2020 (in the midst of Covid) and the following years I noticed that my grandparents are the exception, and not the rule. I thought that everyone over 60 had a huge support system, lots of friends, very well connected in their neighborhood, and genuinely thriving (as they deserve to) in their retirement years.
I recognized that this isn’t the case for many people. Whether it’s because they don’t have as large of a family, or they do, but all their family is busy living their own lives; I decided that it’s my mission to lend a hand when needed, maintain connection, and open doors for new opportunities for everyone over 60 so they can live life on their own terms and remain independent. I didn’t waste any time and started Helperly!
